Compensation for Victims of Quadriplegia
For more than three decades, the lawyers of Aitken Aitken Cohn have taken pride in helping victims of spinal injuries that have resulted in quadriplegia. We take pride in our willingness to focus all of our efforts on the challenge of getting full compensation for the accident victims we represent. We take pride in the work we do to better the lives of quadriplegia victims in Santa Ana and throughout California. This is what we have done for over three decades.
Definition of Quadriplegia
Quadriplegia is a type of paralysis that impacts the entire body from the neck down. It is also commonly referred to as tetraplegia. In medical terms, quadriplegia is caused by an injury that occurs between vertebrae cervical 1 and thoracic 1 (C1 and T1).
The most severe forms of quadriplegia result in numbness and the loss of all motor function from the neck down, including loss of bowel and bladder control. Outside of its most severe form, quadriplegia is a complicated condition that comes in many variations. For example, some victims may maintain the ability to flex one or both elbows, or even move hands and fingers. Any movement that remains can be maximized through the use of assistive technologies, such as orthotics, allowing the victim to retain some independence.
Experience to Overcome all Challenges
At Aitken Aitken Cohn, the challenges that arise in quadriplegia and spinal cord injury cases are challenges that are not new to us. We have faced them before, and we know how much care needs to be used to make certain the compensation we seek is sufficient to cover a lifetime of medical care.
Medical care for an individual facing quadriplegia will almost certainly include live-in nursing care. It also includes the cost of any necessary assistive technologies, from wheelchairs to any other cutting edge devices that may assist our client in maximizing their enjoyment of life. We will seek the compensation that will help our client afford all of the medical care and devices they will require to live fulfilling life. No expense will be overlooked.
